Oxfam was having a camera sale, so I managed to pick up a Nikon Coolpix 4300 for £3.99. I don't yet know if it works as it is missing the battery charger, but I have ordered one of those.

Next step is where do I get a piece of glass that is 10 x 11.3 x 0.3mm?
